Manual lymphatic drainage is very gentle and aims to improve drainage of lymph towards the lymph nodes without impacting on the deeper tissues. It can help with fatigue and fighting infection as the lymphatic and immune systems are closely connected, and detoxification by circulating toxins back to the organs that eliminate them it. spleen, liver, kidneys. It can help to reduce oedema, including in pregnancy, and relieve pain and stiffness occurring due to fluid retention.

Lymphatic massage is ideal for post-surgical clients or those who have had sedentary or stressful lifestyles, or are recovering from illness

Brazilian lymphatic massage aids movement of fluid into the lymphatic system, transporting it to the return blood circulation and eliminating it in the urine. The benefits include relaxation, reduced oedema, detoxification, cellulite reduction, reduced leg pain and improved skin tone.

This level 3 diploma course covers both basic manual lymphatic drainage and the very popular Brazilian lymphatic contouring massage.

DURATION: theory at your own pace, plus one full day practical in Tunbridge Wells

PRE-REQUISITES:

This course is intended for anyone who has completed a level 3 body massage course, with level 3 anatomy and physiology, and is wanting to offer lymphatic drainage.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

• to develop your understanding of the reasons why lymphatic drainage may be sought

• to develop your knowledge of lymphatic physiology in the human body

• to understand the health benefits of lymphatic drainage therapy for the client

• to familiarise yourself with the techniques used in lymphatic drainage

ASSESSMENT

When the theory and practical points are added together, a percentage is then taken. The overall pass mark must exceed 70%. If the mark is lower, a retake is available free of charge.

QUALIFICATION: Lymphatic Drainage Diploma accredited with the IGCT and will meet the criteria for obtaining public liability insurance. Theory and practical training and assessment with a pass score of 70%. If you don’t pass the first time you can retake the assessment at no extra charge.
