Medical Massage and Trauma Therapist of the Year (South East) in 2023 and 2024

Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Services

Having been a massage therapist since 1997, in addition to working as both a nurse and a midwife, combined with my own personal experiences of domestic abuse, sexual assault and CPTSD, it will probably come as no surprise that trauma is one of my specialist areas. I see many clients with these experiences who have unexplaine dpain, high levels of depression and anxiety, and fatigue among other things, but there is still such a lack of understanding in the industry about rauma and PTSD.

Services Available

I offer a range of services to help with recovery following any trauma, including trauma massage, breathwork, vagus nerve toning, nervous system reset, reiki, hypnotherapy and transformation workshops. I also offer a self help guide for understanding trauma and 6 month charity packages for those who have just fled domestic abuse or experienced sexual assault. There are criteria around these packages and they generally come via the charities that I collaborate with, but if this applies to you please message me to see if you meet the criteria. You may also be referred via the Survivor's Network or any other Rape crisis centre, The Sunflower Project, Look Ahead or DAVSS.

In the event that you are not able to come to me, I may still be able to help through online services.

Nervous System Dysregulation

There is a common misconception that trauma is simply a psychological issue and should be treated with psychological therapy. Therapies such as counselling, EMDR etc certainly have a place in treatment programmes, but the problem is, they only address the symptoms, and not the root cause of the trauma.

When most people experience high levels of stress, they do what they need to do to survive and then they heal, but clients with unresolved trauma have spent too much time in survival mode and not enough time in healing mode, meaning that they have had to disconnect from their own bodies, because the nervous system was unable to cope physically, emotionally or mentally. this trauma is held in the cells of the body, sometimes for many years until it emerges as mental, emotional or physical symptoms.

As someone who sees numerous clients with PTSD and unresolved trauma, and who overcame my biggest trigger through massage, I feel it is important to address the root cause in order to see real change.
